Guess what? Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has made history by becoming the first female Senator from Kogi State! She is also the fourth female Senator in the 10th Upper Legislative Chamber. How amazing is that?
On Thursday, Senate President Godswill Akpabio made it official by directing the clerk of the senate to administer the oath to Natasha on the floor of the upper legislative chamber. This is a big deal because it means she is now officially the senator representing Kogi Central senatorial district.
Just a few days ago, the Court of Appeal affirmed Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as the winner of the Kogi central senatorial district election. This decision came after the election petition tribunal nullified the victory of her opponent, Ohere. The tribunal found that there were some unfair practices during the election, like inflated polling results in favor of Ohere and deliberate undercounting against Natasha.
