Kano Guber: Judgment Date Set for Abba Yusuf’s Petition
Hey there, middle schoolers! Exciting news from the Appeal Court in Abuja! They have scheduled a date for the judgment in Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s appeal. Let’s find out more!
Back on November 6, the Appeal Court reserved judgment on Yusuf’s petition. This petition was his way of challenging his removal by the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal. It’s like he’s saying, “Hey, I don’t agree with this decision, and I want it reviewed!”
Now, let’s go back a bit. On September 20, the Tribunal made a big decision. They said that 165,663 of Yusuf’s votes were invalid, which means they didn’t count. And because of that, they nullified his election. It’s like saying, “Sorry, Yusuf, but those votes don’t count, and you’re not the winner anymore.”
But Governor Yusuf wasn’t happy with that ruling. He thought it was unfair, so he decided to take his case to the Appeal Court. He’s hoping that the higher court will review the decision made by the Tribunal and maybe even change it. It’s like saying, “Hey, Appeal Court, please take a look at this and see if you agree with the Tribunal or not.”
And now, the moment we’ve been waiting for! The Appeal Court has set a date for the judgment. It’s going to happen on Friday. That’s when we’ll find out if Governor Yusuf’s appeal is successful or not. Will the Appeal Court agree with him and say, “Yes, the Tribunal made a mistake,” or will they say, “No, the Tribunal was right”? We’ll have to wait and see!
