Hey there, middle schoolers! Today we’re going to talk about the Kogi State governorship election and some interesting news surrounding it. So, there’s this guy named Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka (Muri) who is running for governor as the candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP). But recently, there was a rumor going around that he had decided to drop out of the race. Well, guess what? It’s not true!
A letter started circulating online on November 3, 2023, claiming that Ajaka had withdrawn from the election. But according to a statement from the Director General of the MuriSam Campaign Council, Isaiah Davies Ijele, that letter is completely false. He called it the work of “miscreants” and the “sinking ship” of the ruling party in Kogi State.
Ijele made it clear that Ajaka is still in the race and is determined to be the candidate of the people. He also accused the ruling party in Kogi State of trying to create division between the SDP and another party called the ADC. Apparently, the people of Kogi State are not happy with the ruling party’s performance over the past seven and a half years, and they want a change.
The spokesperson for the SDP urged everyone, especially their supporters, to ignore the fake letter of withdrawal. They want people to know that Ajaka is still in the game and has not endorsed any other candidate, like the letter claimed.
Just so you know, the Kogi State governorship election is set to take place on November 11, 2023. So, there’s still some time before we find out who will be the next governor of Kogi State. Stay tuned for more updates!
