Hey there, middle schoolers! Guess what? The Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, wants to make sure that every child has a fair chance at getting a good education. He recently asked the leaders of churches who run schools in the state to lower their fees. Why? So that kids from all backgrounds can have the same opportunities!
This appeal was made by Governor Soludo during a special prayer event organized by the Anglican Communion. The event took place at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, the capital city of Anambra State. The purpose of the event was to pray for peace and progress in the state.
But wait, there’s more! Governor Soludo also made an exciting announcement recently. He declared that education in government schools, from nursery to junior secondary, will be completely free! That means kids who attend these schools won’t have to pay any fees at all.
During his speech at the prayer event, Governor Soludo asked the leaders of churches to do their part too. He explained that the church has an important role to play in society. So, he requested that churches who run schools also lower their fees. This way, even parents who sell pepper in the market or hawk groundnuts can afford to send their children to these schools.
But that’s not all! Governor Soludo also talked about the levies that churches sometimes ask their members to pay. He understood that churches have important projects to fund, but he suggested that some of that money could be used to help the less fortunate. By reducing school fees, more children from low-income families would have the chance to receive a quality education.
The Governor expressed his gratitude for the church’s efforts in building a better society. He acknowledged their contributions in spreading the word of God, providing quality education, and offering healthcare services. However, he emphasized the importance of ensuring that every child, regardless of their background, has an equal opportunity to succeed.
Governor Soludo promised to continue working hard to create a peaceful and progressive Anambra State. He believes that compassion and transformation are key to achieving this goal. He also assured the church that he would always be ready to collaborate with them to bring about positive change. His administration is committed to making life better for the people of Anambra State.
