Hey there, middle schoolers! So, there’s this thing called the Supreme Court, and they recently made a decision that has caused some controversy. The Labour Party, also known as LP, is saying that the Supreme Court didn’t give a judgment on the appeal filed by their presidential candidate, Peter Obi. Instead, they only read the judgment on the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP.
Let’s go back a bit. On October 26, the Supreme Court dismissed petitions from both the LP and the PDP. These petitions were asking the court to cancel the election of President Bola Tinubu from the All Progressives Congress, or APC.
But here’s where things get interesting. The LP is saying that after the judge read the judgment on the PDP’s appeal, he basically said that the decision on the LP’s appeal would be based on the judgment he just delivered for the PDP. The LP is not happy about this and thinks it’s never happened before.
In their statement, the LP said that they find it embarrassing and depressing that the Supreme Court didn’t give a judgment on their appeal and didn’t even give them a copy of what they decided. They believe that this goes against their right to a fair hearing.
