
Last Christmas, a tragic incident occurred in Lagos, Nigeria. A police officer named Darambi Vandi shot and killed a lawyer named Mrs. Omobolanle Raheem. This act of violence has led to a court case and a recent verdict.
Justice Ibironke Harrison, a judge at the Lagos High Court, has made a decision regarding this case. The judge has sentenced the police officer, Darambi Vandi, to a punishment called hanging. This means that Vandi will be put to death for his actions.
The shooting took place on December 25, 2022, at Ajah Roundabout, on Lekki-Expressway in Lagos State. It was a tragic event that resulted in the loss of Mrs. Omobolanle Raheem’s life.
During the trial, the prosecution team, led by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo, presented their case. They called upon 11 witnesses to testify, including eight police officers. These witnesses provided important information and evidence to support the prosecution’s claims.
In addition to the police officers, two eyewitnesses and a pathologist also testified in court. Their testimonies helped shed light on what happened during the incident and provided valuable insights for the trial.
