The PDP Governors’ Forum is thrilled with the recent judgment of the Supreme Court regarding the party’s petition against the outcome of the presidential election. This decision marks the end of the party’s pursuit of the presidency.
However, the governors are shocked by the deliberate targeting of the party’s elected officials in Plateau State. The use of pre-election cases against them goes against the Supreme Court’s guidelines. The governors are concerned about the contradictory judgments in Plateau State, where PDP candidates are being disqualified on the same grounds that the Supreme Court has previously ruled on.
The governors also appreciate President Bola Tinubu’s involvement in resolving the dispute between the incumbent governor and his predecessor in Rivers State.
A communique was issued by the chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, following a meeting. The communique stated:
“The meeting acknowledges the recent Supreme Court judgment on the 2023 presidential election and believes that this brings an end to the presidential election cycle. We have faith in the judiciary to deliver justice in political and other cases before the courts.”
The governors expressed their concern about the contradictory judgments in Plateau State and urged the apex judiciary to ensure that our legal system remains consistent. They remain committed to the struggle for democracy and good governance in the country.
The PDP governors are alarmed by the recent developments in Rivers State and welcome President’s intervention to resolve the crisis. They urge all parties involved to seek peaceful means of resolution and offer their platform for a fair and swift resolution of the issues.
