Hey there, middle schoolers! Exciting news! President Bola Tinubu has chosen Musa Adamu Aliyu to be the new Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Confirmation of the Appointment
Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President, Media and Publicity, confirmed this appointment in a statement on Tuesday.
Secretary to the Commission
President Tinubu has also approved Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu as the Secretary to the Commission. This means he will assist the Chairman in carrying out important tasks.
Senate Confirmation
The new Chairman of the ICPC needs to be confirmed by the Nigerian Senate. The outgoing Chairman requested to take a break before his tenure ends, and the President approved it. The Senate will decide whether to confirm Musa Aliyu as the new Chairman.
Immediate Effect
On the other hand, the position of Secretary to the Commission does not require Senate confirmation. So, Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu’s appointment takes immediate effect.
Meet the New Leaders
Let’s get to know the new leaders! Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu has been making important changes as the Attorney General of Jigawa State since September 2019. He has degrees in Law and was even named as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria-designate in October 2023.
Mr. Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu is a lawyer with over 30 years of experience. He has served well in the public service as a Member of the Rivers State Judicial Service Commission and Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of Port Harcourt City Local Government Council.
A Message from the President
President Tinubu wants the new ICPC management team to always act with integrity and fairness in their duties. They should handle all matters without any bias or favoritism.
