The Supreme Court is set to announce its final decision on the appeals filed by presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi on Thursday. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, believes that the court will uphold the president’s victory in the February 25 presidential election.
Atiku and Obi had challenged Tinubu’s win in the last election by filing appeals before the Supreme Court. However, the court has now scheduled a date to give its final verdict.
Onanuga expressed his optimism on X, stating, “The Supreme Court will announce its verdict tomorrow on the appeals filed by the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as well as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
“They are contesting the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, President Bola Tinubu, in the February 25 election.
“As members of the APC, we remain hopeful for victory. We believe that the Supreme Court will uphold the integrity of the 8.9 million votes cast by Nigerians, which led to President Tinubu’s triumph last February.”
