President Tinubu Appoints New Electoral Commissioners
Hey there, middle schoolers! Exciting news! President Bola Tinubu has just chosen nine new people to be Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Cool, right?
These new commissioners will serve for five years, but first, they need to be confirmed by the Nigerian Senate. It’s like getting the green light from the big bosses!
Ajuri Ngelale, who works for President Tinubu, said that the President has the power to make these appointments according to the Nigerian Constitution and the Electoral Act. He’s just following the rules!
Let’s get to know the new commissioners! We have Mr. Isah Shaka Ehimeakne for Edo State, Mr. Bamidele Agbede for Ekiti State, Mr. Jani Adamu Bello for Gombe State, and Dr. Taiye Ilayasu for Kwara State. They’re going to do some important work!
And that’s not all! We also have Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi for Lagos State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for Nasarawa State, Prof. Mohammed Yalwa for Niger State, Dr. Anugbum Onuoha for Rivers State, and Mr. Abubakar Fawa Dambo for Zamfara State. They’re joining the team too!
President Tinubu wants these new commissioners to be super professional and ethical in their jobs. He wants them to make sure elections in Nigeria are fair, transparent, and without any conflicts. That’s a big responsibility!
So, middle schoolers, it looks like there are exciting times ahead for the Independent National Electoral Commission. With these new commissioners, we can hope for better and more trustworthy elections in Nigeria. Let’s keep an eye on what they do!
