The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied Governor Dauda Lawal’s claim that former Governor Bello Matawalle embezzled billions of Naira from the Cargo Airport project.
The APC has demanded that the Governor present authentic documents as proof of his claim. In a statement issued by the State APC Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris Gusau, the party challenged the Governor to provide the true documents and explain why he destroyed structures at the Airport. The party also questioned the Governor’s refusal to consider the contractor’s request for a variation of the project cost.
The statement emphasized that the government is a continuous process, and Governor Dauda is fully aware of the actual situation regarding the project. The party accused the Governor of deceiving the people of the state due to his personal dislike for Matawalle. It also criticized the Governor for using misinformation to divert attention from his failure to address the insecurity issues in Zamfara.
The statement highlighted that significant progress was made on the project before Matawalle left office.
